Kate Somers

Executive Director

Kate has led The HomeOwnership Center since 2016, bringing a wealth of experience in housing and community development. Before stepping into this role, she served as Program Manager for Highland Community Builders, overseeing sales, marketing, financing, and customer relations for the Highland Meadows neighborhood. Kate’s connection to HOC began in 2004, when she worked as a Housing Counselor, a role that shaped her deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing homebuyers.

It’s rewarding to lead an organization that truly changes lives. Our team goes above and beyond to help families achieve homeownership and strengthen our communities.

Jami Carpenter

Home Ownership Advisor

Jami combines her background in human services with a strong problem-solving mindset to help customers reach financial stability and homeownership. With a degree in psychology and years of experience supporting individuals and families, Jami joined HOC in 2020, where she brings empathy and expertise to every interaction. Her goal is to make the process approachable and empowering for every customer.

Every customer’s journey is unique. My goal is to make the process clear and approachable, so people feel confident and supported as they work toward homeownership.

Chris Vance

Chris brings extensive knowledge in mortgage lending and real estate closings, backed by a degree in Business Administration and three decades with a local law firm. Her experience in preparing and performing closings gives her unique insight into the entire homebuying process. Since 2021, Chris has been committed to making financing clear and accessible for every customer, ensuring they feel confident and informed from start to finish.

Geneva Brown

Communications Coordinator

Geneva specializes in all aspects of creative design behind the scenes, with a passion for empowering customers to make informed decisions about their homebuying journey through accessible information and strategic messaging. She oversees all aspects of communication, including content development, social media strategy, community outreach, and brand messaging. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communication, which enables her to bring innovative approaches to outreach and engagement, while enhancing her ability to combine strategic messaging with data-driven insights.
